WHERE PASSION LIES,
THERE TOO LIES YOUR CALLING

Corporate America is no longer the only option for Millennials, but rather a back up option. Many graduating High School Seniors are finding themselves in a position to choose entrepreneurship early on in their lives. In a 2014 study conducted by Millennial Branding the rise of entrepreneurship amongst high school students was revealed with numbers many did not imagine. Take a look:

  • 72% of high school students and 64% of college students want to start a business someday.
  • 61% of high school students and 43% of college students would rather be an entrepreneur instead of an employee when they graduate college.

Our goal is for 10 teen entrepreneurs to showcase their small business and innovations in this year's Women Empower Expo - Fort Lauderdale. Therefore, through our corporate sponsors, we are hoping to raise over $4500 the cost of vendor booths and swag bags for teens. With a minimum donation of $150 by 30 individuals and companies we will be able to reach our goal!

Aleyna Harris is a senior at Lauderhill 6-12 and and Shanese Wright is a freshman at Broward College, but an alumni of Lauderhill 6-12. Both ladies are the proud App Developers of Tech Touch. Tech Touch is a Web application that connects underrepresented high school students to computer science companies in the tri-county area of Broward Miami Dade and Palm Beach.

Tech Touch’s goal is matchup computer science students profiles with industry entry-level positions profiles. Tech Touch provides means of which students can build a profile based off of skills which they possess as well as skills that are in the process of development. After students enter this information into the tech touch database the companies do the same giving their general company information, requirements for entry-level jobs as well as internship and/or maybe mentorship opportunities. Now the key portion of tech touch is the connection and By doing so we are retaining the tri-county areas talent pool as well as properly measuring and matching industry needs alongside student progress.

The kids got started a few years ago when their parents wanted to teach them skills about owning a business and money management, being that they don't teach that in school. From this, the kids came up with the idea to serve and sell their grandmother's passion juices, and named their business Mama's Passion Juice. Mama's Passion Juices are mixed with their great grandmother's secret juice recipe and served in souvenir vibrant colored mason jars with matching straws. The mission of Mama's Passion Juices is to show other kids and parents that they can do anything possible once family is involved and through preserving the family history. Thirsty? Get Mamas Passion Juice! Have a taste of passion!

The Chief Juice Mixers at Mama's Passion Juices are, Jojo who is 9 years old attends Morrow Elementary and loves to dance and practice gymnastics. Ari who is 8 years old and attends Avant Garde Academy, loves to dance and practice gymnastics. Brookie who is 7 years old, attend Hollywood Academy of Arts and Science, love dancing, singing and practicing gymnastics.

"Entrepreneurship has opened up so many doors for me, but it is in my ability to help others succeed in their paths that I receive the most satisfaction. I want to help teen entrepreneurs everywhere to do the same. This opportunity is about something so much bigger than a mere campaign. This is about allowing teens to SPEAK LOUD for their dreams." - Dr. Sidjae Price, President & Founder of Speak Loud Incorporated.
